Your Post-cruise Checklist. 5 things to do as soon as you’re home again

So you’ve returned from your cruise. You’re probably feeling a little tired and cranky from all the travelling, but you’re refreshed and still enjoying that post-holiday glow. However, if you’ve been positively dreading coming back home after your cruise then you’re not alone. Many of us manage our post-cruise blues by either not unpacking for weeks on end or letting the house get messy because we’ve gotten so used to the housekeeping services on a cruise! But what might actually help you feel a little better after your break, is some organisation.

No one wants to face the fact that their cruise is over for another year, but there are plenty of tasks you could be doing in the meantime to make the transition be a little easier. Read on for 5 things to do as soon as you’re home again.

Get all those memories organised

I bet your camera or smart device is positively bursting with incredible photos and plenty of memories from your trip. So, strike while the iron is hot and don’t forget about them! Get them printed via a reputable printing site like hello canvas and enjoy beautiful canvases of all your favourite moments, pretty mementos you can stand on your dresser or traditional photographs you can fill your albums with.

Unpack that suitcase

I think everyone has been guilty of leaving their suitcase lying around for at least a week after they’ve returned from a cruise. Whether it’s stood in the bedroom or right by the front door, when you get home from your break we’re tired, probably feeling a little low and the last thing we want to do is sort through a huge case. But, once it’s done – it’s done! And you’ll feel much better if you’re not tripping over your carry on bag every time you cross the floor.

Go through that mail

Nothing says – back to reality – more than a pile of unopened letters – and digital ones!. Whether it’s junk mail, bills, appointments or something else, sift through it all and decide what needs to be binned, recycled, filed or dealt with.

Check your finances

It’s always a good idea to check your finances when you get home from your break. It gives you the opportunity to see how much damage has been done! Not only that, but you’ll be able to see if there is any suspicious activity on your account, if there are any charges you’re not familiar with etc. If you collect points or air miles it’s a good idea to check that everything is in order there too. It’s tedious, but it’s better to spot a problem now, rather than letting someone in Montenegro enjoy your credit card for another 2 weeks.

Look after yourself

You might have been on vacation and enjoyed every minute, but there’s no denying that vacations are tiring and often stressful. Practice some self-care by getting enough sleep, relax as much as possible and sync into the grind of daily life as slowly as you can. Book yourself a meal or another trip so you have something to look forward to!
